An island only 20 kilometres wide which offers more than 1,000 kilometres of approved paths is nearly unaccountable. But this is what actually happens. We can proudly say that La Palma is the Canary island where this sport has met its best expectations.

Cycling
Pedals lead

Our roads are still unaware of traffic jams. Many visiting cyclists are shocked to discover they can actually have the road at their entire disposal. Furthermore, there are dozens of forest trails, the paradise of mountain bike lovers.

Horse riding
Paths on four legs

Breña Alta, El Paso and Fuencaliente forests are the natural sceneries for these variable length rides (between 1 and 7 hours). The vast majority of these centres are also in the position to offer riding courses.

Bird's eye view

La Palma sky, one of the cleanest in Europe, will tempt you with its opportunities for leisure. Paragliding, panoramic flying or discovering the secrets of the Universe are some of them.

Riding the trade winds

La Palma can offer over 300 flyable days per year, with routes up to 30 kilometres long. In winter, when snow storms harass the continent, flying is still possible here. And if you are not an expert you can also join a tandem flight.

Astronomy
A vanguard sky

On 29th June 1985, Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (ORM) was officially opened. The 189 highest hectares in our island have since then attracted a growing number of astronomy professionals and amateurs alike.

By sea

Surrounded by water

La Palma is an island open to the Atlantic. Diving, sailing, canoeing or doing maritime trips are some of the options you may choose during your stay.

Our island's volcanic landscapes are as dramatic underwater as above. The warmness of our sea (up to 25ºC in summer and 18ºC in winter) makes it a shelter for subtropical species that can't be found anywhere else in our country.
